In the third part of this blog series we take a look at the out-of-this-world entertainment found on board, as well as how you can take time to keep fit and relax. Finally, we’ll talk about how service on board really made this trip truly exceptional.
Entertainment with an Edge
You will certainly never be bored on Edge. Celebrity have really upped their game in terms of the entertainment offered on board. Headlining this is the main Theatre. Like much of the ship, this is a reimagined space that is designed to blur the lines between the audience and performance, immersing you in the experience.
The large space is semi-circular, with guests sitting close to and feeling as though they are part of the performance. It’s also a technological marvel with four stage areas, moving projection screens, rotating staircases and platforms. One of my favourite aspects of this space is that the stage organically stretches out across the whole venue, with choreographed pulsating lights that draw you into a performance.
There are a number of production shows found in the main Theatre, including a headline act series which will change every few months. Due to the immersive design of the theatre, guests feel right in the heart of the story playing out on stage.
Then there is the club. Another multi-faceted space, if you want to keep busy this is the place to be throughout the day. While I was on board, this space was in use for something the whole day, with a huge variety of things to do from drone racing (yes you read that right), desktop puzzles, archery, an escape room, a laser maze, and to round of an evening, a disco.
Edge has a number of special club nights on board including Undercover at The Club, putting a contemporary spin on the Prohibition era with 20’s-inspired craft cocktails and an aerial saxophonist. The futuristic body scanner of Andromeda allows guests to become someone else for the evening. And Celebrity’s Hypno Cam Experience is a first-at-sea dance party featuring a high-tech camera that’s passed around to capture photos, which are instantly displayed on a giant LED screen. And then let’s not forget about the infamous silent disco. There’s so much fun to be had here!
Relax on the Edge
If you want to relax and keep fit on board, Edge has you covered. With a number of treatment rooms, a hairdressers, a barbers, a state-of-the-art fitness centre with amazing views out to sea and a thermal suite -you could spend hours here pampering yourself.
I personally love the SEA thermal suite and it’s a great perk of upgrading to Aquaclass on board. It’s a large space with plenty of heated beds, relaxing hanging chairs and a variety of rooms to cleanse your mind, body and soul. Whether it be the Hamman, a modern take on a Turkish bath; the infrared sauna; the mist aroma steam room; the crystalarium, a meditation aromatherapy room; the rainfall room; or the salt room. This is the perfect space to feel rejuvenated.
If you want to keep active and fit on board the fitness centre has you covered. With plenty of state-of-the-art machines and equipment. There are a number of classes and activities including hot yoga, Peloton, boxing classes and Ryde by Technogym.
Creating experiences
While the ship is truly amazing, it was nothing compared to the incredible staff on board. The service on Edge was truly exceptional. You could see that staff loved what they do and wanted to create the best experience for guests. Wherever you were on the ship they proactively wanted to assist you and make your holiday the best it could be.
This was also one of the most social and fun experiences I’ve had on a ship. Every night the ship would come alive, with music and dancing in the Grand Plaza, guests enjoying the delicious concoctions at the Martini Bar and enjoying the entertainment taking place across the ship. The resort deck did not miss out, with pool parties taking place, including a white party (the first one I’ve experienced on Celebrity).
