After many months of waiting Celebrity Cruises have started to tease features for the upcoming Celebrity Edge, touted to set a new standard for ship design and standards.
A number of industry firsts will debut on the ship, including the ‘Magic Carpet’ platform that can move up and down the entire ship superstructure, larger staterooms, stunning suites and other guest firsts.
Celebrity have looked to reinvent the stateroom, dubbed the Edge Stateroom with Infinite Veranda, through changing the superstructure of the ship, meaning that rooms are 23 per cent bigger than current Solstice class ships, with bathrooms being 10 per cent bigger as well. Central to this is a wintergarden style balcony that forms part of the room, which can be opened or closed to the elements.
Suite guests will not be disappointed with double the number of available suites on board, with a newly updated contemporary design. The suites will form part of The Retreat, a suite only area which features an exclusive sun deck, their own lounge and updated Luminae restaurant.
The newly named resort deck has also been reimagined with martini glass shaped jacuzzis, a 25 yard pool and organic sculptured elements. At the aft of the ship there will be the Rooftop Garden, reminiscent of some of the urban gardens you can find in some of the iconic places on the place, such as Singapore. It will feature a whole new grill experience.
Finally there is the aforementioned Magic Carpet. This cantilevered structure on the side of the ship is the size of a tennis court and will scale up and down between Deck 2 and 16 throughout the day. It will assist in the tendering process as well as acting as a bar and speciality restaurant at different times of day. Building on this will be a new design of tender to support passengers getting on and off the ship.
Edge sailings start from December 2018 and she will homeport in Port Everglades Florida until April 2019 (further sailings are yet to be announced). She will alternate 7-night eastern and western itineraries.
