A year after the World Class was announced, MSC Cruises have confirmed an order for up to four LNG-powered cruise ships of 210,000gt. They will be delivered by STX France from 2022 onwards.
The ships were confirmed by MSC Cruises and STX France in the presence of the new French President Emmanuel Macron and the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire during the delivery of MSC’s newest ship, MSC Meraviglia.
Each ship will have 2,760 staterooms and accommodate up to 6,850 passengers – the highest capacity of any cruise ship to date.
The class will feature a “Y” shaped structure, enabling panoramic sea views and increase the proportion of balcony cabins. The ships’ G bow – vertically positioned at a 90-degree angle – has been designed to improve stability as well as passenger comfort. Other guest-centric innovations include family-friendly villages, a panoramic aft, and a glass pool lounge.
