Discovery Princess has a variety of entertainment and activities on board.
During the day
Throughout the day there’s a plethora of activities taking place across the ship, including trivia, quizzes, dance and fitness classes and many more. On our cruise on Discovery Princess the weather was unfortunately not the best, but that didn’t stop the fun, with various activities taking place in the indoor spaces – particularly the Piazza as the hub of the ship. Helpfully, like most cruise lines, you can find out what’s going on in the daily newspaper (the Princess Patter), or via the Medallion App.
Something that Princess is known for are their sail away parties, featuring live music, singing and dancing – all of course with a love boat twist. On our 7-night cruise, we had two sail-away parties, one while leaving Los Angeles and then on another day.
Of course, the beauty of cruising is that you can choose how to holiday and relax – so if you want to just unwind there’s plenty of space and nooks on board to just be.
There are also plenty of opportunities to indulge in immersive experiences such as expert cocktail making classes, wine tasting and other activities. We took part in the complementary Good Spirits cocktail making on more than one occasion and it was so fun to watch, learn and be involved in this.
During the night
In the evenings put your glad rags on as the ship comes to live with entertainment. On our 7-night cruise we had two formal nights, while the rest of them were smart casual.
There’s a lot to do in the evenings, whether that’s having pre- or post-dinner drinks, enjoying the casino or some of the live music featured throughout the ship. If live music is your thing, then I truly recommend spending time in Take Five, which features jazz music on a nightly basis.
Princess is also known for its high-calibre shows. We’ve seen a number of them over the years and they have all been exceptional – one in particular which features on Discovery Princess is Rock Opera which you must see. On this cruise with Discovery, there was also a lot of nightly live acts – ranging from musicians, singers to comedians and other acts.
And of course, if you are a night owl there are a number of late-night activities and quizzes, together with some mind-bogglingly talented karaoke.
You can’t talk about the entertainment on board without talking about Movies Under the Stars. Out on the top deck around the main pool, you can cosy up under the stars with freshly popped popcorn to watch blockbuster films, concerts and other events under the big screen. On our cruise it was during Oscars week and they showed this live on the screen by the Lido deck and it was great to enjoy a few drinks while watching the awards unfold.
So, what would you get up to on a Princess Cruise?
