By 2023 Disney cruise line will have seven vessels in its fleet. This comes as Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced that they will be adding another ship to its two-ship order. They will be delivered in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
All three ships will be built at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, who also built Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy for the line.
The design and visuals for the new ships are still being refined, but they will come in around 135,000-tones, making them the largest ships in the Disney fleet. Despite this, the new ships will have around the same amount of cabins, 1,250.
All three ships will include new and unique features and experiences. This includes “immersive Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations that are fantastically fun and uniquely Disney” according to Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
All three will also be powered by Liquefied National Gas (LNG), in a move to make the line more sustainable and reduce its impact on the environment. To read more about the cruise ship industry and the environment visit here.
