Crystal Cruises have unveiled plans to transform the lines two ocean-going ships, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony.
As part of the line’s ‘Evolution of Crystal Luxury’, the two ships will receive new penthouse suites, refreshed and reimagined restaurants, refreshed public areas and technology upgrades during their respective dry-docks in 2017 and 2018.
On both vessels a number of existing staterooms and space will be converted into luxurious penthouse suites. This will reduce the overall number of passengers on both vessels from 922 to 848 on Symphony and 1,070 to 980 on Serenity.
Crystal Symphony will get two new categories of stateroom, 12 Seabreeze penthouse suites and 28 Seabreeze penthouses. On Crystal Serenity, 36 new penthouses and two new penthouse suites will be built.
The existing dining room on both ships will be transformed into Waterside, a similar concept to that found on Crystal’s recent river ship, Crystal Mozart. With the overall reduction in stateroom numbers, assigned seating will be replaced with open seating from 630pm to 930pm. The Lido Café will be replaced by the Marketplace during the day and a Churrascaria during the evenings.
A new venue, Silk, will debut on board, featuring Chinese-inspired food within the existing Trident area of the Lido Decks. Existing venues such as the Trident Bar & Grill will remain, whilst Silk Road and the sushi bar, by Nobu Matsuhisa, will be renamed Umi Uma, the japanese word for seahorse.
Crystal Symphony will go into dry-dock between September / October 2017 whilst Serenity will go October / November 2018.
From November this year all Crystal vessels will receive complimentary wifi, whilst a new online portal, Crystal Connect, will debut help guest plan their voyage, with interactive screens being installed though-out the ships.
