Further details about Celebrity Cruises’ ambitious fleet renovation, the Celebrity Revolution, have been announced and I could not be more excited!
More than $500-million is being spent to reimagine the Celebrity fleet in partnership with more than 500 leading architects, designers, and engineers designed to bring the rest of the brand’s award-winning fleet to the Edge. Here’s what you need to know.
The Suite life
At the core of the revolution of Celebrity’s programme is enhancing the Celebrity Suite Class. This will see numerous upgrades, designs and furnishings added to the suites across the fleet in conjunction with Kelly Hoppen, MBE. Kelly has shaped many of the spaces found on board the line’s newest ship, Celebrity Edge. On top of this, Celebrity will add Reflection Suite and Signature Suites (found today on Celebrity Reflection) to Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Equinox, and Celebrity Silhouette, infusing them with Kelly’s signature style – a subtle, coordinated fusion of East meets West, with clean lines, neutral tones, and a warm, inviting opulence.
With Celebrity Edge, the brand introduced an exclusive new sanctuary for all Suite Class guests called The Retreat. And now, Celebrity is bringing its most luxurious experiences fleet-wide. Every ship will offer The Retreat Sundeck and The Retreat Lounge, both strikingly designed by Hoppen. In imagining The Retreat Sundeck, she has created a chic, open-air hideaway with the feel of a high-end resort, where guests can unwind on plush loungers, sip tantalizing cocktails, and savour refreshing treats. At The Retreat Lounge (formerly Michael’s Club), Hoppen has designed a warm and sophisticated atmosphere.
Celebrity won’t stop with suites. Across the whole feel staterooms will be transformed and elevated to a new level of ‘Modern Luxury’.
All staterooms will feature a fresh, chic design, rivaling the world’s best boutique hotels. They will also be fitted with Celebrity’s eXhale bedding featuring exclusive luxurious cashmere mattresses, RFID locks, pervasive Xcelerate and Bluetooth capabilities.
Venues across the fleet will also be enhanced. Qsine will be added to every ship in the fleet, and enhanced to include the brand’s Le Petit Chef experience (first added to Celebrity Edge). On top of this, Oceanview Café will be redesigned with an open, airy, marketplace-inspired design offering guests island after island of international delicacies, while the already-stunning Main Restaurants will undergo a beautiful redesign, with new textures and new finishes added throughout.
The spa and shopping offering across the fleet will be enhanced, and bars and lounges will be reimagined, including the Passport Bar. The popular Gastrobar concept (one of my favourites) will also be expanded across the fleet.
The revolution is coming
The first revolution will take place in January 2019 with Celebrity Millennium. A programme across the whole fleet will then take place to renovate and reimagine each ship. The current programme (subject to change) is as follows:
- Celebrity Millennium – January
- Celebrity Summit – March
- Celebrity Equinox – May
- Celebrity Silhouette – January
- Celebrity Eclipse – April
- Celebrity Constellation – May
- Celebrity Infinity – November
- Celebrity Solstice – October
- Celebrity Reflection – February
