Virgin Voyages – A feast for the senses

The first cruise ship in the Virgin Voyages’ fleet, Scarlet lady, is set to feature more than 20 food venues when it launches in 2020. All of which will be included within the fare of the cruise.

Scarlet Lady is set to reimagine how we dine on a cruise. With twists and turns at every table, she will not have a main dining room, no set dining times, no dress code and no buffet.  Instead, there will be a huge selection of eateries that appeal to all appetites and tastes.

Virgin has previously revealed some of these eateries, including the eclectic Test Kitchen and the suave Pink Agave Mexican (take a look here). Joining them will be a huge variety of other options, from haute cuisine to healthy quick bite options.  This includes:

Wake

The ship’s signature venue will be situated at the aft of the ship, as you may have guessed, overlooking the wake of the ship. The largest on the ship, it will also be the most glamorous, featuring a dramatic and grand staircase inspired by The Wolseley in London and The Grill in New York City. On offer will be a raw bar, land and sea classics, a tableside cocktail cart and a Sommelier-led wine program.

Razzle Dazzle

The venue will feature a striking design, inspired by the camouflaging techniques used on ships during World Wars I and II. It will specialise in a range of vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a juice bar. Diners will have the option to indulge their ‘naughty’ side and add-on a variety of meats or spike their smoothies with alcohol.

Guests will also be treated to performances by Scarlet Lady’s resident drag performers during Drag Brunch at sea. For an extra fee, bottomless brunch will be offered. This sounds really fun and really unique!

Dock

I’m already a big fan of the Dock, located at the aft of the ship. It has been announced that this beach club will also feature carts of Mediterranean small plates, grilled skewers, salads, dips and mezzes. Yum!

The Galley

A casual eatery found on the ship, this space will feature a mixture of several shops and food carts, offering a selection of dishes across the day. This includes a dedicated bakery and pastry shop, Paninis, a burger grill, a taco shack, a sushi bar, a noodle bar, soups and salads, and a 24-hour American style diner. So much food!

Extra Virgin

This Italian trattoria will serve freshly made pasta and regional dishes, served alongside a range of traditional Italian aperitifs and rare wines.

Pizza Place

Most cruise lines have some form of pizza offering, and some offer some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Pizza lovers will not be disappointed on Scarlet Lady, with pizza’s only being made fresh to order from a variety of ingredients. It will be a chilled and casual spot with a beach club-inspired design, pastel colourings and hammocks for lounging.

That really is a feast for the senses! The adult’s only Scarlet Lady is scheduled for delivery in 2020. She will sail across the Caribbean, including notably Havana, Cuba.  For more information head here.
