Whether it’s watching the latest blockbuster film, the super bowl, a royal wedding, or even the Eurovision Song Contest, cruise lines have you covered in terms of being able to screen and stream movies and events.

With so many big events coming up in 2018 here’s my quick guide to the top five best places to watch things on a ship:

Movies Under the Stars, various ships, Princess Cruises

Princess debuted the idea of having an outdoors movie screen on board its ships a number of years ago.  It is now a staple of the Princess fleet.  Enjoy Movies Under the Stars, a unique opportunity to enjoy blockbuster Hollywood movies under a backdrop of sea and sky.  Expect comfortable loungers, popcorn, cookies & milk and cozy blankets.  What more could you want?

Two70, Quantum Class, Royal Caribbean International

Two70 is a unique venue which offers a variety of experiences throughout the day.  Core to this is technology.  I mean, you can have a movie screen, or you can have a 270-degree view that turns into high-quality projection screen, and why not throw in 5 giant screens with robotic arms?

The venue’s nature changes through the day with playful robotic shows, changing vistas and entertaining shows in the evenings.  The venue is also perfect for watching seminars and events.

Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Cruise Line

I recently spent some time on Norwegian Cruise Line’s latest ship, Norwegian Bliss and it deserves a spot on this list purely by the sheer size of the new poolside screen found on board. This is by far the biggest, or rather widest screen found by a pool on a ship. Mixed with the expansive pool deck I can see how you could cozy up to watch a movie to the background of Alaska, or equally enjoy a cocktail in the Bahamas.

Lawn Club, Celebrity Solstice and Reflection, Celebrity Cruises

The Solstice class of ships are known for the real-grass deck found at the top of the ship.  This is truly a special space to relax, enjoy evening concerts or have a picnic.  Celebrity are also now introducing a large movie screen into this space, making it perfect to sit out on the grass with a nice glass of wine, a picnic and watch events.

IMAX Theatre, Vista Class, Carnival Cruise Line

Ok so technically this is slightly different from the other venues listed above, but it deserves a mention in its own right.  IMAX is an immersive high-resolution cinematic experience.  This is perfect for watching the latest blockbuster movies and stunning documentaries, though more and more IMAX is used across the world to stream HD live events.  Why not try it out when you are next on Carnival Vista or Horizon?
