When it comes to cruising, you have so much choice in terms of lines and destinations that sometimes it can be difficult to choose. In this blog series we’ll look at the top reasons why you should consider various cruise lines. In this blog we explore the six reasons why you should consider Princess Cruises. With some of the best food at sea and glamorous interiors, you can see why Princess is one of the favourite cruise lines out there. Let’s take a look at the top reasons why you should consider a princess cruise.
Award winning luxury
Princess continually win numerous awards for the product they provide customers. To date they’ve won well over 50 awards across the board from best overall experience, to their stunning ships, food, entertainment and other areas. You can see the full list of accolades here.
So, what’s the secret sauce to their success and popularity? It boils down to the fact they are a relaxed cruise line that draws from traditional routes – which appeals to most people. You won’t find all the bells and whistles found on other lines. Instead, Princess focuses on the quality of what they do provide – service, food, entertainment, etc. This of course resonates with a lot of people. And it’s no joke, I was truly impressed by the friendliness and service on board – nothing was too much hassle.
Explore the World
A key draw for Princess is the sheer amount and variety of itineraries on offer. On average they sail over 380 cruise itineraries and have continually win best itinerary awards. So, there is literally a cruise for you out there.
On top of this, they are specialists within certain sectors. Most notably Alaska, where they are seen as the leaders in providing a one-of-a-kind experience. More than just a cruise, think of it as a cruisetour, with a 7+ night cruise to visit places such as the famous Hubbard Glacier, Anchorage and Juneau, but also enjoy scenic rail travel from the ship to a Princess exclusive lodge in the Wilderness where you will spend a few nights enjoying everything Alaska has to offer. Sounds incredible, right?
A fleet for everyone
Princess offers a wide range of ships to guests – with 18 ships as of the end of 2020. From Pacific Princess, with only 670 guests, she offers a true small-ship experience and travels to ports that only smaller ships can access. Then on the other scale, you have some of the newest and most innovative ships in the world, including Sky and Enchanted Princess, the latest in the Royal class of ships, which exude style and luxury.
The Love Boat
Do I need to say anymore? Princess has been the home of the Love Boat since it first debuted in the 1970s, on board the original Pacific Princess, and again in the 1990s on board Sun Princess during its revival. It has been responsible for introducing so many people to the idea and fun of cruising over the years.
In fact, six of the original cast members are the God Parents of one of the lines newest ships, Regal Princess and the ships horn regularly plays the theme tune of the show.
Out-of-this-World Food
If there’s one thing that goes hand in hand with Princess, it’s food. The line is continually voted as providing some of the best food at sea. And you can see why when you consider everything that’s offered on board. The line offers a variety of cuisines including a whole range of complimentary offerings, to some of the best speciality restaurants I’ve ever dined at. This includes Sabatini’s Italian trattoria, mouth-watering steaks at the Crown Grill and incredible pub food at the Salty Dog Gastropub.
Cruise Critic have also awarded Princess with having the best burgers at sea with the delicious Ernesto Burger, and USA today have awarded Princess with having the best pizza at sea – high praise which I can completely testify to being true.
Ocean medallion
Ocean really is a remarkable technology that’s transforming how we cruise. Currently available on Princess (but will be rolled out to other Carnival brands in the coming years), put simply, it aims to provide a seamless guest experience, whether that’s through a painless check-in, ordering drinks to your location, opening your stateroom door or making tailor-made suggestions based on your likes and activities. It’s incredible and I don’t say that lightly. You can read all about my experience with Ocean Medallion here from on board Crown Princess.
In the UK, where are Princess sailing to in 2021?
For those living in the UK, 2021 looks to be a very exciting year to cruise with Princess. Firstly, Regal Princess comes to the UK to offer a variety of cruises to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. She will be joined by Island Princess, who will offer a number of Northern Europe and Iceland cruises.
In September 2020, Princess announced that their newest ship, Sky Princess, will also homeport from Southampton and offer a variety of British Isles and Baltic cruises.
